Xbox Update Fixes Remote Play Issue for 720p Displays
Game consoles may look the same over time, but their makers are always working to update and improve them. This time, Microsoft has released a new update for its platforms, specifically for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
Let’s take a look at what has changed, based on Microsoft’s official notes.
What’s New in the Latest Xbox Update
The update, version 10.0.26100.6985 (xb_flt_2602ge.260121-2200), introduces two changes. First, it brings the usual “general stability and performance improvements”, without giving more detailed information.
Second, it fixes a bug “where some users were unable to use remote play if their console display settings were set to 720p.” Not everyone uses such a low resolution, but it was still an issue that needed to be addressed.
This is clearly a minor update, but it is always good when a publisher fixes its consoles and removes bugs. Of course, it would be even better if these problems did not appear in the first place, but that now seems almost impossible.
In other news, Microsoft has confirmed that it will permanently retire user-created Social Clubs on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles starting in April 2026. This decision is part of an effort to focus on social features that players use more frequently today, such as Discord integration, party chat, and Looking for Group (LFG).
