Xbox Users Report Widespread Issues Playing Streaming Content Like Netflix
Many Xbox users have been reporting problems playing content on streaming apps from their consoles over the past few hours. Although the apps open normally, videos do not start playing, remain stuck on loading screens, or end up freezing. The first reports appeared on forums and social media, where users said that services such as Disney+ and Prime Video were not working properly when trying to start any content.
Reports quickly increased, and players say they are experiencing the same issue across multiple platforms, including Netflix, Hulu, Max, and Apple TV. According to user feedback, the problem affects almost all major streaming services, regardless of the app used or the console model.
No Solution Yet and No Official Status Update
The usual troubleshooting steps do not seem to fix the issue. Several users say they have restarted their consoles, unplugged the device for several minutes, reinstalled apps, and even performed full factory resets without success. Everything suggests that the error is not related to local system settings.
Reports indicate that the issue affects all Xbox generations (thanks PiunikaWeb), from Xbox One to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. It has been reported in several countries. One common detail mentioned by many users is that YouTube works normally, while DRM-protected content does not play. This points to a possible issue related to licenses or content authentication on Microsoft’s servers.
At the moment, Microsoft’s official service status page does not show any incidents related to streaming. Since everything points to a server-side problem, the general recommendation among users is to wait for it to be resolved, as attempts to fix it directly from the console do not seem to have any effect.
