XFX Radeon R9 290X Double Dissipation 4GB GDDR5 Review
A Closer Look
XFX’s R9 290X is in my opinion one of the better looking cards on the market with a subtle black exterior and white LED XFX logo.
The design is dual slot and measures in at just over 11 inches.
Power is drawn in through one 8 pin and one 6 pin, this card has a 250W TDP.
The PCB is matte black so will appeal to the masses, it looks clean and that’s always a good thing.
The bottom is opened up to allow for some ventilation from the down-blowing fans.
The end is also opened up and reveals an impressive selection of five heat pipes.
The card makes use of two 90mm fans for cooling.
The rear I/O provides dual DVI, DisplayPort and HDMI as well as the traditional XFX logo ventilation port.
Wow, $450 on Amazon and $540 on Newegg? thats a huge price different. people who bought from newegg must be dumb and didnt do their homework….
People who buy from Newegg over Amazon probably because bad history with Amazon.
can’t edit, they made a huge typo, it’s the same price on amazon as newegg.
LOL…. where did eteknix get the price from?
$540 was the price at the time of writing the review last week. Newegg have reduced their prices since.
I want this so bad, but Blender Cycles only supports Nvidia graphics cards for rendering, from what I have seen. Looks like my renders(http://sh.st/rqLpS) will have to be slow for a while longer.
