The Thor’s Hammer comes securely packaged despite the quantity of windows on the box. The heatsink itself is suspended in two pieces of plastic, similar to an Easter egg, which keeps it well away from the edge of the box and any impact is absorbed through the plastic. All the accessories are mounted securely in the cavity between the plastic and the edge which prevents damage to the cooler and the accessories themselves.
As you slide the cooler out in it’s plastic shell you will be greeted with the various accessories that accompany it. The included parts allow it to be mounted on Intel’s 775, 1366, 1156 and 1155 socket CPUs or any of AMD’s coolers right back to K8. The cooler can be used right out of the box with the included accessories but the included mounting systems have their limitations, so Xigmatek sell optional mounting systems for an enhanced fit which we will talk about later. Also note that no fans are included with this cooler, but we would strongly recommend adding at least one for any serious CPU work.
