You Can Now Download a Mod Based on Marc Laidlaw’s Half-Life 2: Episode 3

It’s not Half-Life 3, but it’s something

Remember when we told you about Marc Laidlaw and his unofficial script for Half-Life 2: Episode 3? Well, the modding community has been hard at work since that reveal, and the result of that work has materialized into an awesome mod. The project can be downloaded at the time of writing, and it was dubbed Tiger Team. Based on Marc Laidlaw’s Half-Life 2: Episode 3 script, the mod was put together by Blendo Games, and it is a part of the Epistle 3 game jam. In the future, we’re looking forward to more fan-made projects, especially if they’re created in modern engines such as Unreal Engine 4.

Is this quality work?

I haven’t played the mod myself, so I can’t really give you any specifics regarding quality. However, if you’re a die-hard Half-Life 2 fan, you owe it to yourself to give it a try at least. Just in case you’re not too familiar with installing mods, you can have a look at the following list of instructions.

• Unzip the file into this folder: steam\steamapps\sourcemods
  
• Restart Steam.
• Tiger Team will appear in your Steam library. Run Tiger Team.
• A window will appear asking to install Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer (size: about 8 GB). Install it.
• After the Source SDK download is done, run Tiger Team.

For a gameplay sample, you can head over to YouTube’s ‘paco robledo.’ Don’t be surprised if things look a little bit unfinished, though. Hopefully, Blendo Games will polish it a bit and release an even better version in the future.
