Zelda Ocarina Controlled Home Automation, Mad Scientist Style

Forget Amazon echo, this is Zelda Ocarina Controlled Home Automation, mad scientist style! A recent video uploaded to YouTube by Allen Pan, shows an entire and self-made home automation system, which he controls by playing an Ocarina, using tunes from the N64 classic, Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

The system is running off a Raspberry Pi which is connected to the internet and is linked up to a number of wifi modules around his home, each controlling a different device. Each tune fom the N64 game operates a different piece of equipment.

Then, in true mad scientist style, he has a number of motors, switches, batteries, cables and crazy contraptions all ready to go. Playing Sun’s Song will turn on the lights, for example, and if he’s feeling cold, playing Bolero of Fire will turn the heating on for him.

Anything from watering the plants to unlocking his car has been incorporated into his system. The one major drawback to all of this is the amount of cables all over the place and unsightly contraptions, it certainly looks like a prototype, and it will be interesting and amusing to see if he polishes it up and actually uses it.

Allen Pan is no stranger to inventing and creating unique and fun devices, and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint. It’s not all smiles for Allen though, and he’s actively seeking help, well, money to be blunt. On his patreon page, he goes into detail about his situation and asks for help. I won’t go into the details on here, but if you like seeing crazy inventions and you have spare money floating around that you won’t miss, he would very much like you to become a backer. Head over to his page and have a read, he’s certainly an interesting guy.

What other crazy inventions would you like to see? Is there anything from a movie that you’d like to see brought to life?
