ZOTAC expand their GT 520 lineup for older systems

Due to some systems being old, as well as newer components being more expensive, some people don’t necessarily need the latest for everything. ZOTAC, having noticed it, announced a new version of their GT 520 lineup coming with PCI and PCI-E x1 connectivity.

Pre-built systems or old systems, and even both sometimes, don’t always need to the thrown out if they still work, they just need little help, which is what the GT 520 is made for by making high definition graphics available to the older generations.

“Upgrading your graphics card is the easiest way to boost your system performance and gain new capabilities. The new ZOTAC® GeForce® GT 520 PCI and PCI Express x1 graphics cards shows that you can experience good graphics without upgrading the rest of your system,” said Carsten Berger, marketing director, ZOTAC International.

The GT 520 GPU is clocked at 810 MHz, with 48 unified shaders clocked at 1620 MHz, a total of 512MB DDR3 memory with 64-bit interface clocked at 1333 MHz, it’s not the best, but it’s just enough for the old systems with only PCI or PCI-E x1 connectivity.

Supporting both DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4.1, connected through DVI, HDMI or VGA output, you will be able enjoy full HD video playback, the low profile as well as the passive cooling shouldn’t bother neither in space nor in noise (PCI only). The dual simultaneous independent display support will also enable the painless upgrade of a dual monitor setup.

The only difference between the PCI and the PCI-E x1 is in the size and cooling.

The PCI is a little bit bigger due to its connectivity and is equipped with a passive cooling heatsink:

The PCI-Express x1 on the other hand is slightly smaller in shape and features a small fan for the cooling, which rest assured, shouldn’t produce too much noise:

Both of these come bundled with a smaller PCI bracket for systems with restricted brackets size, they come in pair though, which allows for the VGA to be place under (or over according to preferences) meaning you don’t loose anything.

The latest ZOTAC GeForce GT 520 PCI and PCI-Express x1 will allow more expandability to the older systems not requiring too much of an update.

A price and release date have yet to be announced.
