Gigabyte GTX 660 Overclock 2GB Graphics Card Review

We’ve seen so far that the card has a lot of performance on tap, but as with all things hardware, there is always the scope for pushing things that little bit further. With this in mind we now endeavour to see how well each piece of hardware that we get in and we think is worthy of, gets our overclock treatment to take things right up to the next level.

To test our overclocks, we decide to stick to what we know best for overclocking, MSI’s Afterburner software, along with GPU-z, Furmark and 3DMark 11.

Considering this is effectively only an entry level card, the scope for going just that little bit further was greater than what I imagined. Pushing the GPU core to its absolute limits, we found that even tweaking the voltage saw no further gain. (Do this sound similar to that of previous Gigabyte card reviews?) Topping out at 1140MHz with a boost of 1205MHz we did manage to gain an extra 10% out of the core and raising the memory from 1502MHz to 1637MHz saw a gain of 9% overall.

When it came round to putting the card through the game tests, yet again I’m telling a similar Gigabyte patented story that they have hit the sweet spot for their card and there was nothing else noticeable to be had.
