PlayStation 4 Might Not Be Able to Run Assassins Creed Unity at 1080p Resolution

If  you were expecting your PlayStation 4 to be able to play every game at 1080p then it looks like your going to be disappointed. Although it’s the native resolution for the PlayStation which was released in Novemeber, it seems that the latest big title to hit the console will only be able to run in 720p HD.

That’s right,  Ubisoft is releasing its latest Assassins Creed game to the PlayStation 4. These historical action-adventure video games are very popular and the latest up and coming title , Unity, looks to no different if the hype is to be believed. According to the Sony Entertainment Network website these are the specifications.

1 player
Network Players 2-4
50GB minimum save size
Remote Play
720p HD Video Output
Online Play (Optional)

If this is to be believed then 1080p isn’t supported. This seems to be very strange as the previous game in the series, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, runs at full 1080p resolution and Ubisoft has already mentioned that they were looking to achieve 1080p and 60 FPS on both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. The latest release will see a “completely rebuilt” stealth, combat and traversal mechanic so maybe that is what is keeping the resolution and FPS down? This could just be a mistake from Sony however.

The latest Assassins Creed game will be set in Paris with the story linked to the French revolution and is set to be released October 28th.

    PC bags another win…..

Personally I couldn’t care less what resolution it runs at on consoles if at all just as long as it runs as advertised on PC’s which I would assume would be 1080p. I missed the last couple of installments because I thought the game was turning to garbage but I am more interested in this one, let’s hope it’s not a let down as well.

It’s not boding well, since Ubisoft completely botched their PC port of watch_dogs. But I am with you I hope they don’t limit the PC release because of console garbage hardware.

That’s just one of the main reasons I’ll never pre-order, I’ll wait for it to reach bargain basement status on Steam then grip a copy so if I don’t like it or it’s not up to snuff much like Watch Dogs was/is then I don’t feel too bad about wasting the money.

  • 1080p on PC please!

  • Honestly, i’m fine with 720p as long as they keep it at solid 60FPS because i don’t notice the difference between 1080p and 720p on my 42inch HDTV in my bedroom and only notice a slight difference on my 51inch HDTV. I think 1080p is more for those with a 51inch+ HDTV and PC Monitors.

If you cannot see the difference between 720p and 1080p, you need to get your eyes checked. It’s basically the same as between 480p and 720p. 1080p is appropriate for a 42 inch, but just barely. In the next few years you will have broadcasters sending down 1440p (WQHD) or 2160p (4K) video for those beastly 50+ inches TVs…

    1080p or no sale.

  • HMan2828 .

Both Microsoft and Sony made a major mistake going for AMD APU’s. Basically, both consoles are equivalent to an i3 and a 2 years old graphics card. You are not going to run anything at full potential.

Devs are just figuring that out now, that those chips simply do not have “next-gen” power.

If you compare with what they did on watch_dogs, they lowered graphic fidelity to the ground to be able to run the game in 1080p, and it was still choppy. That’s most likely what will happen. Whatever previews and teasers you have/will see, I can almost guarantee that the final product will look nothing like it. To be frank, if they showed you the ACTUAL graphics, no one would buy the game.

OMG lies lies lise….Ubisoft has said more then one time ps4 and Xbox one will run the game at 900p….. Dave you should try doing some research before posting a lode of bull.
