Wavemaster Mobi Mobile Speaker Review

Music

My phone has one of the better speakers on the market, it’s good enough to enjoy the audio of my games, a few videos on YouTube and on occasions, a little bit of music, yet (am I’m being honest here) it still sounds garbage. This is the curse of the mobile phone, no matter how good the technology has become, the speaker is always weak due to its size and the thickness of the phone. Bass needs room to breath and you’re not getting that in a slim smart phone. Connecting the Mobi made an immediately HUGE difference to the audio from my phone, so much so that I had to turn it down a fair bit.

For a tiny device like this, it can really push some impressive volumes, sizeable bass and is loud enough to entertain a bunch of people were you sat somewhere with a fair bit of background noise. The only issue I did have is that past 80% of my phones volume slider, the sound became muffled and distorted, this really shouldn’t be an issue for most people because at around 70% the people next door could certainly hear my music.

Video

It’s not often I watch a movie on my tablet or phone, most often just videos on YouTube, but connection the Mobi makes a big difference and if your listening to music videos, lolcat clips or something on Netflix, this really adds a lot more depth to the sound compared to the built in speakers of mobile devices.

Gaming

Gaming is where the Mobi fell down for me, its short cable means that unless your device is laid next to it, you can’t use it for gaming. If however you use a cradle to hold your tablet or phone while gaming, the Mobi will tuck away behind your stand / cradle quite nicely.

Mobility

This is an important aspect for the Mobi and its one that it passes with flying colours, it’s really small and perfectly light that you can fold it down and pop it in your pocket, or even its own little carry pouch and keep it in your back pack. The fact that it comes pre-wired means you also won’t have to worry about finding that important audio cable and so long as you’ve remembered to charge it via USB once in a while, you’re good to go.
