1More Evo Wireless Headphones Review

A Closer Look & Performance

The egg, or at least, that’s what I tend to call these headphone docks and chargers. It’s a good size, not too big, not too heavy, but still manages to squeeze in a 450 mAh battery. The headphones themselves are good for eight hours of continuous usage, take one hour to fully charge again the dock, and can give you up to 28 hours in total.

However, using ANC all the time brings that down to five and a half hours and twenty hours respectively, but let’s be honest, that’s plenty! I’ve never found myself in a scenario where the battery gets too low to use them, even on a long-haul flight, take them out for 30 minutes while you chat and eat and they’re likely fully charged by the time you pop them back in your ears.

The charging egg is USB C too, and will be fully charged in just two hours, which again, is nothing, so charging them at work, in the car or whatever is certainly possible.

It has a flat rubber base too, so unlike many headphone cases, it doesn’t wobble and roll around your desktop.

Flip it open, and you’ll find these two gorgeous headphones, which look a little bigger than you might expect given the size of the case.

They look fantastic though, with their white body, gold trim on the rear, and a sort of pearl-effect backplate.

They feature a triple microphone array on each earbud, which uses a powerful algorithm to remove background noise, making for clean voice chat when you’re making calls. From my experience, traffic noise, etc, all get filtered out extremely well on the microphones.

They have infrared sensors too, so they know when they’re in your ears. Take one (or both) out of your ears, and your audio will pause. Pop them back in and it’ll resume, however, this feature can be configured or disabled in the companion app for your phone.

The drive housing is quite large, but the weight is very much set close to the earbud, so they sink into your ears and fit very snugly. Actually, they’re about the best fitting headphones I’ve ever had, with my old ComfoBuds Z being very comfortable too, but so light, they liked to jump out of my ears a lot.

The drivers are pretty potent too, with a 10mm dynamic driver, as well as a balanced armature. 1MORE has always had premium sound quality and this is no exception, and with support for Hi-Res Wireless Audio and LDAC, I really cannot fault their acoustic performance. Do you want big bass, warm and detailed mid, and crystal clear highs? You got it! However, if you want a flatter EQ too, it’s surprisingly accurate.

There are three modes of ANC built into the headphones, with a few more granular modes available while using the accompanying mobile app. Largely, they work quite well for travel. The ANC is strong, filtering out background TV noise, crowds, traffic, trains, in-flight engine noise, and the usual with surprising effectiveness.

However, they falter when it comes to wind noise. The microphones listen to the sounds in and outside your ear to mute them, but wind noise captures on both the AND and listen-through mode a little too much. So when out and about, the stock mode actually works better, but ANC works well when indoors or in a vehicle. There is a Wind Noise Resistant mode, but again it suffers the same issue and the audio just doesn’t sound right as a result.

There’s a touch panel on each, so just hold your finger on the back for a moment and it’ll toggle through the ANC modes, or tap to answer calls and trigger a smart assistant on your mobile device.

The drivers are huge but surprisingly sit very securely in your ear. I haven’t had any issues of them coming out my ears, or even moving around at all, which is surprising, but a pleasant surprise for sure. They seat very well, and that puts the drivers in a great position to block ambient noise and deliver a much tighter bass sound overall.

They’re powerful, with a punchy sound, but you can EQ it to your taste. I listen to extensive amounts of audiobooks, and a broad range of music, and anything from Isaac Asimov’s I, ROBOT being read to me to the latest Cannibal Corpse track being screamed at me, they hold up utterly fantastic. As I said, I’ve used these for a few months now, every day, without fail, and without major issues, and they sound pretty fantastic and continue to do so day after day.
