4K Toshiba Laptop Launching Next Week

4K is one of the hottest buzzwords in the industry right now, offering huge gains in resolution and picture quality that can help with productivity and provide stunning pictures for movies and gaming. With 4K screens offering a resolution that is around 4 times higher than 1080 displays it can take a lot of graphics horse power to get desirable results, even many of today’s top graphics cards will struggle to get modern games to 60FPS on high and ultra settings.

Of course not everything is about gaming, productivity is king for 4K as it allows you to fit a huge amount of content onto your display with amazing clarity, something that will no doubt prove popular with photographers, designers and more. The new system from Toshiba will called the P55T and sports a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels on its 15.6″ display with a PPI of 282, making mincemeat of the mere 220 PPI of the gorgeous display fitted to the new 15″ MacBook Pro with Retina Display!

That kind of resolution needs some series power and you’ll find it is well catered for with the AMD 2GB DDR5 Radeon R9 M265X discrete graphics card, as well as the 4th Gen Intel Quad-Core i7 and 16GB or DDR3L memory. The display is a Technicolor certified IPS panel, something that will again prove popular with graphics designers, and Toshiba know this, no wonder they’ll also bundle it with Adobe Lightroom 5.

For storage you’ll find a 1TB 5400 RPM mechanical hard drive… so no SSD as standard, which is a big surprise, but the real winner is obviously the core hardware, personally I would buy this and throw that stock hard drive in the bin, something like the P55T deserves a powerful SSD in my opinion, especially given that the RRP on this beast is $1500.
