Acer has just unveiled its latest Google Chromebook creation which takes advantage of a new more efficient Intel Haswell processor. The Acer C720 uses a 1.4GHz dual core Haswell Celeron 2955U CPU, 4GB of RAM and a 16GB SSD for the operating system (remember the majority of things on a Chromebook are done on cloud storage so there’s no need for any additional onboard storage). Acer claims a healthy 8.5 hours of battery life and a 30% slimmer design than its predecessor measuring in at just 0.75 inches at its thickest point. The display measures in at 11.6 inches with a run-of-the-mill 1366 x 768 resolution and an anti-glare matte coating. The Acer C720 has a total weight of just 2.76 pounds and features USB 2.0, USB 3.0, HDMI and a HD webcam. Acer offer a 1 year warranty with the C720.
Acer didn’t disclose an availability date but Amazon and Best Buy will be taking pre-orders soon in the USA for $250. In the UK we can expect to see it for around £190-200 and Europe can expect around €220-230. Acer says it will provide additional configurations in the coming weeks.
