ACER Predator GM7000 1TB SSD Review

There’s no shortage of really fast SSDs these days, with the latest PCIe Gen4 technology offering significant speed boosts, many times more than double the performance of previous Gen3 SSDs. However, when it comes to high-performance hardware, ACER’s Predator series has always been a favourite of the PC gaming community. From their amazing PC monitors to their RAM, they’ve got a little something for everyone. Of course, today, I’ll be focusing on their new GM7000 SSD, which promises to be one of the fastest drives on the market today!

ACER Predator GM7000

Manufactured for ACER by BIWIN, this drive promises to be very potent. BIWIN are one of the few that actually manufacturer their own drives, allowing them full control over each component used, often given their drives class-leading performance and features. Of course, with this being a Predator series product, ACER and BIWIN have gone all-out on the best hardware choice. The Predator GM7000 M.2 SSD removes the speed limits for gaming (with up to 7400 MB/s read speed) and offers up to 2 TB in capacity. It’s a feature-packed SSD using PCIe 4.0, a 12 nm flagship 8-channel controller, independent DRAM cache, 4 K LDPC Error Correction (ECC), and AES encryption.

Features

  • Up to 7400 MB/s read speed
  • New generation PCIe 4.0 SSD
  • 12 nm flagship 8-channel controller
  • Independent DRAM cache
  • Predator GM7000 uses a 12 nm flagship 8-channel controller to provide fastest transmissions for end-users. Multiple data protections are integrated in GM7000 to ensure data security.
  • 4 K LDPC Error Correction (ECC): Compared with 2 K LDPC, 4 K LDPC greatly prolongs the service life of the SSD and provides better reliability and ultra-high performance.
  • AES encryption: Compared with software encryption, hardware AES encryption can provide superior data protection and excellent performance for processing more sensitive data or applications that need improved data security.
  • End-to-end data protection: When writing data, a check code is generated and the user data is written to the flash memory. While reading the code checks whether the user data is complete or an error occurs during transmission and storage, improving data reliability.
