ADATA Launches the Durable and Portable SD700 SSD

ADATA launched their latest storage drive and this time it is an impressive external solid state drive with capacity options up to 1TB. The new ADATA SD700 is in fact the first 3D NAND SSD to achieve IP68 dust and water proof rating in addition to military-grade shock proofing.

ADATA took the well-proven concept from their portable hard disk drives and applied it to the latest generation solid state drives with the result being the new SD700 portable TLC SSD. The drive uses USB 3.1 Gen.1 which has a bandwidth capability up to 5Gbps and the SD700 can perform with typical data speeds fo 440MB/s at both read and write operations. Such speeds will make backup jobs a joy and a lot faster to complete than they would with traditional mechanical storage.

The SD700 has been designed and tested to IEC IP68 standards. That means it is completely dust-tight to prevent particulate ingress and can operate normally even after submersion in 1.5m of water for 60 minutes. ADATA has also tested the SD700 to the popular US Army MIL-STD-810G516.6 shock and drop resistance standard, ensuring a high degree of shock proofing. With its multi-layered protective enclosure and obvious lack of moving parts as an SSD, the SD700 offers extremely survivable storage for extreme activities.

Portable takes on a new meaning with solid state drives and the SD700 only weighs 100 grams. At the same time, it operates with complete silence and does not build up any heat either. The drive comes in two colour choices, either in a two-tone black and yellow or an all-black color scheme. It is fully plug-and-play and compatible with pretty much any system such as Windows, Mac OS, and even Android devices.

The new ADATA SD700 comes in three capacity options, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, and should be released at very competitive price point too – but ADATA didn’t reveal any pricing at this time.
