Aerocool BX-500 Evil Black Edition Full-Tower PC Chassis Review

With the side panel off we can see that the back mounting plate is finished in bright orange, giving a really strong contrast to the black finish of the rest of the chassis, but most important of all we can see there is an awful lot of room inside this chassis, with room for 5 hard discs, unfortunately there are no SSD mounting points, so you will need an adaptor plate to mount your SSD in the drive trays.

Rather than having cable management cut outs, appart from the minor ones you can see for smaller cables, the BX-500 favours quick release clips, while it may not looks as tidy as hiding them behind the back plate, it keeps everything out of the way well enough and keeps all your cables within reach, which helps for quick installations, removals and upgrades of components in the future.

The back of the chassis we can see better the back plate for the CPU cooler and any rear fans you wish to install, plus the pre-installed 120mm fan at the back. Further down you can see there are some quick release clips on the expansion slots for tool less installation, but more on those in our build section.

There are also some quick release clips on the 5.25″ drive bays, which make for quick and easy installation and removal of your optical drives, you’ll also noticed a vertical line of screws, which I can only guess are there for safe keeping should you need a few spares, there is a row on both the front and back of the chassis, while I didn’t need any for the build, it’s good that they are to hand, not in the bottom of my tool box.

With the back plate off we can see the orange paint job continues, although it doesn’t really matter around this side as no one will see it. We also have three cable ties in the centre that will help you control any excess wires in the rear of the case.
