Price
You can pick up the chassis for around £60 for the standard black one, but should you wish to get the windowed edition you can expect to pay a premium or around £5-10 dependant on colour options and availability. This is very competitively priced and should give competitors a serious run for their money.
Conclusion
I was a little uncertain when I heard about this chassis, there are a lot of companies jumping on the small form factor band wagon this year after the BitFenix Prodigy flooded new life into that sector of the market. There was always a fear that some companies would just try to cash in with a copy cat product, but that really isn’t the case here.
Aerocool are right to step into this sector of the market, to try to compete for that part of the market where users have their system next to their desk, or need something they can take with them to LAN or even just something pretty to sit next to their TV for a HTPC / Steambox type gaming rig. Aerocool have proved in the past that they know how to make a good gaming chassis and we can see all of that knowledge here today.
The style is really awesome and while I admit the colour might not be to everyone’s liking, Aerocool have a range of colour choices for you to pick from. The overall feel and finish to the exterior of the chassis is spot on and for this price range you really can’t get any better. Not to mention the options you have with the side panel, top panel and colour configurations as this allows you to balance the style and practical aspects of the chassis to your particular build.
Storage options are a little light, but given that we have room for a pair of long graphics cards and some hefty air or water cooling solutions, I’ll take that as a fair trade-off.
There might not be anything truly innovative about the Dead Silence, but it does pack plenty of features, some robust build quality and a lot of style into a respectable budget and for that, I think it is more than worthy of our Games Choice Award, a strong contender for anyone who wants a cool LAN rig or to build their own SteamBox.
Pros
Cons
“Aerocool have really impressed us with the Dead Silence, its unique style and accommodating design will prove popular with system builders, gamers and modders alike.”
Thank you Aerocool for providing us with this sample.
