PerformanceOur test is fairly crude using a simple program to test the read and write speeds at different block sizes, and while it tends to gives us good comparative results this test was repeated 3 times to give us a good average.

You may remember that on the one side of the box there was a graph which looks fairly similar to this. It is very rare that we run our tests and find very similar results to the manufacturers claims. As such I’m fairly confident in saying that these are true claims and this enclosure can certainly do the speeds Akasa are advertising.

While performance isn’t everything, we can certainly see that this enclosure doesn’t really hold the drive back and is a very quick interface when using the USB 3.0 connection. As we’d expect the USB 2.0 interface now feels deadly slow. Admittedly you are not going to see these kinds of speeds if you are using a mechanical laptop hard drive, but it certainly shows the enclosures potential.
