AMD Radeon 6950 Triple CrossFireX Review

Final ThoughtsThis article or review was something that I’ve wanted to do for a while, as I’ve had the cards sitting here waiting to be thrashed, but due to time constraints, it got delayed. Thankfully I managed to find time to perform the necessary tests, as it really does highlight the ability of performance that these cards have to offer and they offer it by the bucket load.

Going into this blind, we had our expectations of how things would go, but we never thought we’d get results like we’ve seen today especially with the scores involved with 3DMark Vantage and Batman to name but a few.

You may be wondering why we didn’t compare the scores to another set of cards such as two 6970’s or two GTX 580’s, and there is a very good reason as to why. We didn’t want this article to be a comparison, as we wanted it to show what three 6950’s can do in CrossFireX, and not what they compare like.

We do have plans to look at two 6970’s in CrossFireX and also two GTX 580’s in SLI but they can wait for now, whilst we pay homage to the 6950 and the massive potential that it has when put into CrossFireX.

Our hats come off to AMD as they really have something special here and it would be good to see retailers take advantage and offer a discount price for buying two or three 6950’s together as we truly believe that it will boost sales tremendously.

Though this isn’t strictly a review, and is more of an article, we’ve reviewed the performance of the cards together, so that permits us to rate it accordingly and as we deem fit and there is only one rating that is deserves, the patented eTeknix Platinum Award.
