AMD Releases Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition

As part of their commitment to always improve, AMD is releasing a new update to their Radeon Software suite. Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition will provide gamers with an even more immersive experience than before. The new update replaces and succeeds the old Crimson and Crimson ReLive Editions. As the big update of the year, it brings a whole host of new changes and revamps a lot of old features. The headline features are the new AMD Link Mobile App and Radeon Overlay.

Radeon Overlay takes the Radeon ReLive toolbar to a whole new level. On top of rolling in Radeon ReLive control, Radeon Overlay adds long-awaited performance monitoring. This allows users to control Radeon ReLive, Performance Monitoring, Radeon Chill, Frame Rate Target Control, Radeon FreeSync and Color settings. Gamers can use most of the functions in Radeon Software without leaving the game.

The other headline feature, AMD Link Mobile App works into this in a similar way. Just like Overlay, Link allows users a lot of control through the mobile app. It is nearly as powerful as Overlay and provides control over Radeon ReLive streaming and social media integration. Link basically works just like a remote control in that sense. It also provides GPU and PC performance monitoring. The main goal is to utilize a second screen most users have. It will be available for both Android and iOS.

AMD Radeon Adrenalin Edition All Rounder Upgrade

For existing features, the big one is an upgrade for ReLive. First is integration for Facebook, Twitch, Mixer, YouTube, Weibo and more for better stream interaction. ReLive FPS overhead is also improved by bringing it below 2%. DX11 latency performance is also improved. AMD is also expanding Radeon Chill power saving to more titles with a new generic profile. Enhanced Sync is also finally available for all GCN GPUs, bringing an alternative to the Nvidia Fast Sync and Adaptive V-Sync experience to more users.

Lastly, AMD is still committed to their minimum six annual WHQL promise. The new Adrenalin Edition is WHQL certified as it should as be. In this regard, AMD has beaten their promise as this is their 8th WHQL release. AMD has been doing very well with their drivers over the past couple of years. Due to the departure of Raja at RTG, there has been some uncertainty. However, AMD has shown that their goals haven’t changed. Hopefully, this trend will continue with future updates. I for one can’t wait to see what AMD will bring forward.
