In addition to the Radeon Pro WX 4100, AMD has also provided additional information about the Radeon Pro WX 5100, which is the fastest 75-watt TDP card designed for real-time content engines. Not only that, the product is suitable for CAD workloads and other workstation tasks. The Radeon Pro WX 5100 utilises the 4th generation GCN architecture, has 1792 stream processors and provides a peak performance rate of 3.9 TFLOPS. Additionally, the GPU has 8GB of GDDR5 memory and a typical board power less than 75-watts. In a similar vein to the Radeon Pro WX 4100, the card has 10-bit colour depth support and can take advantage of modern APIs like DirectX 12.
Here we can see the Radeon Pro WX 5100’s performance is very impressive and easily defeats the NVIDIA Quadro M2000 in Siemens NX, an application commonly used by the automotive industry. According to AMD, the GPU is up to 41% faster which proves incredibly valuable when tackling large, industrial-scale workloads.
The Radeon Pro RX 5100 is useful for real-time design visualisation and has enough horsepower to drive modern engines beyond 1080P. The design visualisation basically allows you to move beyond static imagery and explore a particular environment within an engine. For example, you might want to showcase a house’s layout via real-time design visualisation instead of using traditional overhead plans. The possibilities are endless and this is bound to be a growing market.
