AMD Reveals the Open Compute Platform Hardware Support

AMD’s Open Compute Platform (ROCm) is officially supported on a huge range of graphics hardware including professional workstation products and budget GPUs like the RX 460. As you can see, the current line-up consists of the newly release Radeon PRO WX7100, Radeon PRO WX5100, Radeon PRO WX4100, Radeon R9 Nano, Radeon PRO DUO, FirePro S9300x2, FirePro W9100, FirePro S9150, FirePro S9170 and Polaris 10/11.

On another note, AMD has extended the platform’s support to a broader hardware ecosystem. The ROCm has AMD64 support which means the upcoming Zen architecture and Intel Xeon E5 v3 v4. There’s also official support for ARM AArch64 and IBM OpenPower. Not only that, AMD is actively supporting next-generation I/O interfaces and is a founding memory of GenZ, CCIX and OpenCAPI. This illustrates AMD’s commitment to investing in new I/O interfaces and pushing technology further.

I’m pleased to see the new Open Compute Platform being supported on GPUs designed for different usage scenarios. Whether you’ve invested in a budget gaming game or professional workstation product, the benefits can be accessed. I’m interested to see if the platform will become available to other GPUs from previous generations like the R9 290X.
