With the release of AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 7000 processors a little over a month away (according to sources), the advent of Team Red’s new AM5 socket, and, by proxy, DDR5 memory debut, is nearly upon us. – In regards to memory specifically, however, there is clearly the question as to what kind of speeds are likely to provide the best performance under the new Zen4 architecture.

Well, following a report via Videocardz, it seems that thanks to a beta BIOS release, and, of course, testing with Ryzen 7000 engineering samples, we might have our answer. And the answer is that DDR5-6000 might be the ‘sweet spot’.

AMD Ryzen 7000 – DDR5-6000 Offers the Sweet Spot For Gaming?

According to the source, which we’ll freely concede now definitely requires some further concrete evidence before we’ll take this as gospel, through the utilisation of the Infinity Fabric frequency with the Zen4 architecture, DDR5 memory at speeds of 6000Mhz will offer the best gaming performance due to it coming with a 1:1 ratio.

What about faster RAM though? Sure, 6000MHz is pretty damn quick (and about the ‘best’ you can get at the moment), but there are undoubtedly going to be even faster modules released in the future. Won’t they offer, by proxy of speed alone, better performance? – Well, overall, the suggestions for AMD Ryzen 7000 specifically appear to be no. – It’s claimed that faster DDR5 memory will require the ratio to be changed to 1:2, but this will likely result in, overall, worse (slower) performance because of this.

So, in other words, DDR5 running at 6000MHz does appear to offer the best speed, and by proxy gaming performance, for Ryzen 7000 processors. With this in mind, therefore, with AMD’s next-gen CPUs expected to land on September 15th (launching on August 29th), we can perhaps expect to see a bit of a preemptive rush for DDR5-6000 modules!
