Before I get into the results, it’s important to remember that the testing was conducted to see what impact the new cooler would make for the average consumer who doesn’t overclock their CPU or tend to buy a third-party cooler. Theoretically, we could have compared it to other products on the market, but that seems unfair considering it’s bundled with the CPU at no additional charge. Clearly, the AMD Wraith cooler offers much better temperatures than its predecessor and greatly exceeded my relatively optimistic expectations.
In terms of noise output, the cooler remained extremely quiet during idle conditions. After running the torture test for 10 minutes, the original AMD cooler was ridiculously loud and it became unbearable to listen to. Thankfully, the Wraith fared much better and reported a fairly quiet figure of 38.6 decibels. Therefore, AMD’s updated cooler is significantly quieter and cooler at the same time.
