In its standard mode, it would appear that the 135mm fan supplied with the Antec HCG Gold has been an excellent choice. It’s exceptionally quiet, and, as can be seen in the results below, appears to operate on 3 set settings. Although we wouldn’t necessarily guarantee this, it does appear that the standard operation sets this to 500RPM at low loads, 700 at medium, and then 775 at full. Albeit, we should note that the fan is rated to 2,200 RPM, but we sincerely doubt this will ever approach that.
Although a hybrid functionality is provided, the standard-setting is so quiet that it’s barely necessary. On the plus side, however, if you value exceptionally low noise output, this mode might be perfect for you. Even after running this PSU for 15 minutes at 100% load, the hybrid mode on it did not deem it necessary to operate the fan once.
