Efficiency

Being an 80 Plus Titanium rated power supply, the Antec Signature sets the bar as high as it can possibly go under current PSU standards and clearly, by proxy, has a rather lofty set of requirements to meet. Does it manage to do it though? Well, the short answer is yes. The long answer is also yes, but just barely. – Although we will freely concede that our load tester can often produce some unusual results, and particularly so when it comes to high wattage power supplies, on the whole, the numbers produced found that while the Antec Signature is definitely good enough to warrant the Titanium rating, it doesn’t do it by an overly convincing margin.

Remember though, as above, the bar is always set exceptionally high with the 80 Plus Titanium rating. There is a reason, after all, why so few PSU manufacturers even bother attempting to reach it. Being so high though, the ‘wiggle room’ gets notably smaller and while it does just squeak into that efficiency bracket, on the whole, it’s perhaps not surprising that the margin isn’t bigger or more comfortable because, quite frankly, this is about as good as it currently gets!

PFC (Power Factor Correction)

Without a doubt, the PFC results provided from the Antec Signature are some of the best we’ve ever encountered. Although starting off relatively low at 20% (which is entirely normal), once you ask this PSU to start working harder, the number quickly ramps up. From 40% all the way up to 100%, the Antec Signature averages around 0.98 which, when compared to many other premium level power supply designs, is definitely higher than you’d usually expect to see. And just in case you don’t know what this means, the short version is that this is very good!

Voltage Regulation

Given the amount of power we’re dealing with here, it’s not unusual to see that there is a little bit of deviancy found in the overall average taken from the results. When you take a closer look, however, you will note that the numbers are, on the whole, amazingly consistent and this is, without a doubt, the most important and impressive factor from this test. – With a very mild over-volt seen on most of the channel outputs, these are all entirely within acceptable remits. Yes, the -12V does under volt a little, but this is also perfectly fine not just in terms of the margins, but also the fact that, by and large, this is the least important/used rail for modern PC systems.
