AORUS Adds Faster Memory GTX 1080 and GTX 1060 Video Cards to Lineup

Gigabyte’s high-end gaming brand AORUS is introducing faster memory variants of the GTX 1080 as well as GTX 1060 into their roster. Two will be 11Gbps GTX 1080 and one is a GTX 1060 with 6Gbps memory priced to compete against AMD’s recently launched Radeon RX 580.

At the top of the stack is the AORUS Xtreme Edition GTX 1080 11Gbps (part number: GV-N1080AORUS X11-8GD), featuring faster clock speeds that run up to 1936 MHz boosted from1784 MHz base in OC mode. It also has a regular gaming mode core clock option of 1759 MHz that boosts up to 1898 MHz. The non-Xtreme GTX 1080 11Gbps (part number: GV-N1080AORUS-8GD) runs at 1733 MHz base/1873 MHz boost in OC Mode while it operates at 1708 MHz base that boosts up to 1847MHz in regular gaming mode out of the box.

Both cards feature a triple 100mm fan design, 5x copper heatpipe heatsink, dual 8-pin power connector, Titan X chokes, Ultra Durable components, integrated copper backplate, RGB LED, VR-Link, and 4-year warranty. The Xtreme Edition has a fancier LED lit backplate however with an illuminated AORUS logo as well as having a larger copper piece. The Xtreme Edition also has been pre-binned so it is guaranteed to get higher overclocks compared to the non-Xtreme model. Both video cards also take up three PCIe slots in height because of the considerably large heatsink installed.

The AORUS GTX 1060 9Gbps (part number: GV-N1060AORUS-6GD) on the other hand conforms with a dual-slot height and has three 90mm Windforce fans with a 3D stripe curve blade for quieter performance and 23% more airflow. Aside from the faster memory, the AORUS GTX 1060 9Gbps has a 1607 MHz base clock that boosts up to 1835 MHz in gaming mode and is pushed even further in OC mode running with 1632 MHz base clock that boosts up to 1860 MHz. The reference GTX 1060 in comparison, only has a core clock of 1506 MHz that boost up to 1708 MHz.
