The fastest card it may be, but it’s not the most power hungry. It’s the most power usage from an Nvidia card. However, it delivers almost twice the performance of the Vega 56 card, while using a similar amount of power; now that’s impressive.
The Xtreme cooler design is superb, and while the card is hot, it runs pretty great. Obviously, looking at the performance there are no issues with throttling, which I think kicks in around 80c.
Good temperatures, great performance, and a super quiet card. The temperatures could easily be reduced if you need to, as this fan is hardly having to push too hard. Play around with your fan curve to suit your needs, you have plenty of wiggle room here.
This card is already dialled up pretty high from the factory. However, manufacturers like to keep things under the absolute limit to prevent failures. The reference clocks are only 1545, and this is 1770 MHz out of the box! So the fact I only got another 50 MHz on top of that is hardly a disappointment. Plus, another 400 MHz went on the memory clock too, giving us a slightly over a 3% performance improvement for slightly less than 3% more power; winning!
