Archos’ GamePad was unveiled back in August but until now, its not been available on the UK markets.
The device uses a Dual Core Cortex A9 1.6GHz processor with a quad-core Mali 400mp GPU and a 7″ capacitive screen with 1024 x 600 resolution. Keeping gaming in mind, Archos designed this unit with physical controls like most portable gaming systems.
In total, there are two analogue sticks, 12 additional buttonw around the system, in a similar fashion to Sony’s PSP system. The gamepad also features Google certification, allowing access to the play store. As an Archos’ speciality, this also includes its own media centre tool which enables wireless media sharing, 1080p decoding and much more.
The Gamepad was launched during October and sold out very quickly and shortly after a replenishment of stock, stores soon found empty shelves once more. Looking at the high demand of this device, the new batches are expected to arrive on December 18, 2012.
