The main part the installation consists of installing the pump unit to the plastic shroud. You have to add the pump unit in, screw it down, screw the hosing into place and pre-route your fan/pump cables ready for installing this onto the HD 7970. The cable routing is necessary to avoid them getting tangled in the 80mm fan.

Installing the unit once you’ve combined the two is very easy, it requires four screws from the rear of the card that go directly into the pump. In fact the shroud can be dropped if you don’t like it, but of course it is recommended that you use it because it has the cables to support PWM control of all fans and the pump as well as the active cooling for the VRM.

The finished unit abides to a double slot standard which is great for 2 way SLI/CrossFireX users. Realistically you won’t be able to use more than two of these as you will run out of places to put the 120mm radiators.

On the back you have to use the provided backplate, square of EVA foam and spacers. These screws secure the pump unit to the GPU.

Arctic do not provide proper radiator screws in my opinion. They only provide standard fan screws which simply aren’t long enough to install a fan to a radiator. You have to take Arctic’s screws and use them on the inside holes of the fan frame, which means you need a skinny screw driver to go through the outside fan frame holes. I did not have that so I simply grabbed a couple of long radiator screws from an Antec Kuhler 620 which did the job perfectly fine.

There isn’t really anything out-of-the-ordinary to see here. The unit is about 50mm thick when fully installed. You either need to put it at the back, side or top of your case depending on where you have a 120mm fan mount located that can be used to exhaust.
