ASRock Z77 Pro4 (Z77) Motherboard Review

It’s been quite some time since we’ve had an ASRock board in our hands for testing. In fact it was just before Christmas last year when we looked at the X79 Extreme9 board which impressed us so much that it ended up leaving with an Editor’s Choice award.
Since then ASRock have been busy churning away a mass amount of different motherboards from the latest Intel Z77 platform and today sees the Z77 Pro4 landing with us combing features with affordability as this board offers all of the features we expect from ASRock and Intel’s Z77 chipset while on a budget, retailing at around a mere £85/$110.
From looking at the specs, it doesn’t seem as if this board has been skimped on, though for the price we can’t help but wonder what has been chopped out to get the cost down, making it an affordable option for anyone wanting to try out the latest Intel Z77 platform.
Just like always, we will start things of looking at the packaging and accessories that ASRock supply with this board. After, we can take a more detailed look at the board to see exactly what features it has, and if anything has been chopped to get the price down.
Once this is out of the way, we can focus on the true performance of the board at stock with our i7 3770k and shortly after can start to push the board to 4.6GHz to see how overclocking functions on this budget friendly board.
If ASRock have skimped on certain parts of the board to bring the cost down, we intend to find the exact source of it, but generally we see this happen a lot with ASRock and we never find anything untoward apart from ASRock just simply offering the best deal around.
