Final Thoughts

Price

Astro is a premium grade gaming brand and their products command premium price tags to match. The Astro A38 will normally set you back £180, which is obviously very expensive, but at the time of writing, Astro had them on sale at £140.

Overview

The Astro A38 are very expensive, there is no escaping that fact. However, when you want a premium grade product that is packed full of features, you’ll have to pay for the privilege. Fortunately you do get what you pay for and despite the high price tag, Astro go the extra mile to provide excellent value for money.

The A38 feature class leading build quality and design, from the moment you take them out of the box you can feel that this is a quality product. The finish is stunning, the build quality feels rock solid and you can tell that a lot of research has gone into creating a well made product that is as practical as it is stylish. These are certainly a fashion statement in terms of design, it’s a very cool looking headset. Where the Astro headset stands out from most similarly priced fashion headsets, such as those from Beats, is that the Astro perform even better than they look.

Sound quality is on par with the best of the best. Music, games, movies, phone calls, it doesn’t matter what you throw at the A38’s, it’ll sound incredible. The noise cancelling technology works effortlessly and helps profile great quality sound with minimal disruptions from the outside world. The microphone is not only completely hidden in the headset, but also bright and clear chat audio that will make the listening experience as pleasant for the person on the other end of your call, as it does for the person wearing the headset.

The controls on the headset are well placed, and all the major function you could need are within easy reach. Another thing I really like is that I can pair the device via NFC, meaning a simple tap against my smartphone, tablet or other compatible device and I’m good to go; very handy if you’re using this headset for multiple devices.
