ASUS Gears Up for ROG Ally 2024 Update

ASUS is poised to refresh its ROG Ally handheld gaming device in 2024, a move that might coincide with its presentation at the upcoming Computex event. This news follows the trend of yearly updates that ASUS has traditionally applied to its laptop line, focusing primarily on internal specifications rather than external redesigns.

The 2024 update is expected to address some specific issues rather than being a full generational leap. Notably, ASUS plans to resolve an SD card issue that plagued the previous models. To address past problems, ASUS has already extended the warranty to cover SD card-related issues and reimbursements for affected users.

Potential Features and No Major Chip Upgrade

Speculation about potential enhancements includes the possibility of incorporating the AMD Strix Point APU, a new Zen5/RDNA3.5 processor, into future models. However, the 2024 refresh will likely continue using the Ryzen Z1 “Phoenix” chip, tailored for gaming handhelds, as there’s no significant benefit anticipated from switching to the newer Hawk Point silicon that only updates Ryzen AI core performance.

ASUS’s commitment to refining its existing products promises to enhance user experience without overhauling the fundamental design. The focus remains on improving functionality and reliability, especially concerning hardware integration and performance stability.

Keep an Eye on Computex

More details about the ROG Ally 2024 are expected to surface in the coming weeks, likely aligning with its showcase at Computex. This approach reflects ASUS’s strategy of steady, incremental improvements that cater to the evolving needs of tech enthusiasts and gamers alike.
