ASUS has updated some of its AMD HD 7000 series based graphics cards to the Direct CU version 2 cooling and PCB designs. The HD 7950 Direct CU II TOP, HD 7870 Direct CU II TOP and HD 7870 Direct CU II cards have all been given a minor facelift.
The three new cards feature slightly modified cooler and PCB designs over the original cards. In case of the HD 7950 Direct CU II version 2, the cooler is compacted with a denser heatsink, and the PCB reduced in length for better case compatibility. In case of the HD 7870 cards, the coolers use a denser heatsink arrangement for better cooling.
The HD 7950 Direct CU II version 2 TOP ships with 900 MHz core, and 5.00 GHz GDDR5-effective memory. It equips 3 GB of memory across a 384-bit wide memory interface. The HD 7870 Direct CU II version 2 TOP ships with 1100 MHz core, and 5.00 GHz memory, while the HD 7870 Direct CU II version 2 ships with 1000 MHz core and 4.80 GHz memory. The two pack 2 GB of memory across a 256-bit wide memory interface.
Pricing is not expected to change at all as far as we know and they should become available in the next few weeks as the new stock filters through.
