Just like the Maximus IV Extreme-Z and any other ROG based board, we find the same styling with the red colour scheme and very basic information, leading a lot more to be uncovered as we look inside the box. As this Gene-Z is a Micro ATX board, we can see that the box reflects this and is a lot smaller than other ROG boards.
The rear shows us the main features down one side, with a full specification table taking up most of the box. This continues to list every aspect of the board and what CPU, memory and graphics support it includes.
The front of the box has a lift up panel which reveals more of the key features of the box including the infamous Lucid Virtu and SupremeFX X-Fi to name a few.
By lifting the panel up, it also reveals more space for the main features to be listed, including extra memory features, BIOS added extras and the bundled software that comes included.
Opening things up, inside we find the usual ROG affair with a driver installation CD, casebadge sticker, leaflets, user guide, cable ties, stickers and a massive sticker for the side of your case, if you’re into that type of thing.
Also inside we find an I/O panel shield plate, four right-angled SATA II cables, two right-angled SATA III cables, an ROG Connect cable, Q-Connector headers and an SLI bridge for multi-GPU configurations.
