There are a lot of new X870 and X870E motherboards hitting the market today, and you can likely tell, as this is just one of nine reviews we’ve published today! However, while many of them are created quite clearly with the gaming and enthusiast overclocking consumers in mind, this one is a little bit different. The ASUS ProArt X870E-Creator WIFI gives away the answer in its name, it’s built for creators. As creators ourselves, the motherboards we use in our workstations need to have more robust connectivity and storage solutions, so I’m hoping that’s the case with the ProArt X870E-Creator WIFI. There’s also a more mature aesthetic, with a sort of architectural graphics design that’s sure to appeal to the more professional markets.

As you can see from the feature list below, there’s a lot going on here, with front panel USB 20Gbps Type-C, 30-watt PD, and QC 4+, and there are additional USB 3.0 and 2.0 headers on there too. As for the back panel, there’s a lot going on, with a huge array of USB 10 Gbps ports, and a pair of USB4 ports that also support DisplayPort 1.4 and 8K60 video over Type-C DP. There’s also 20Gbps Type-C, and best of all, insanely competent networking, with 10Gb, 2.5Gb and the latest WiFi 7. So far so good, and a big thumbs up from me.

Memory Support

Memory support is impressive, offering up incredible speeds for these new CPUs, however, which generation of CPU you use will have some impact on the memory capabilities as you might expect, but typically they’re all over 8000 MHz.

What ASUS Had to Say

The ProArt X870E-Creator WiFi empowers creators of all levels by maximizing the performance of the latest AMD Ryzen™ 9000, 8000 and 7000 Series processors with 16+2+2 team power stages, DDR5 slots, PCIe® 5.0 and lightning-fast connectivity including dual USB4®, 10G and 2.5G Ethernet, and WiFi 7. This motherboard manifests a professional, elegant and precise vision for content creators of all kinds, with a style elevated by tone-on-tone layers of black infused with metallic gold touches. A translucent I/O cover also gives users a stylish peek at the premium connectors within.

AMD 800 Series Chipset

While this review cycle we’ll be focusing on the X870E series of motherboards, of course, there’s going to be more to this series, with the X870E being the flagship models, the X870 below that, and then the B850 and the B840 being the more affordable models below those, but with some obvious compromises on the features, giving us a range of options for normal PC users, gamers, overclockers and enthusiasts.

Ryzen 9 9950X

For these reviews, we’ll be using the latest AMD Ryzen 9000 series CPU, and while we haven’t actually reviewed this CPU on its own, of course, we’ll be exploring the Ryzen 9 9950X performance through these motherboard reviews. We did a feature testing Windows 32H2 Vs 24H2 on YouTube recently, which you can check out here.
