Asus Rampage IV Extreme X79 Motherboard Preview

As we managed to see this board a little while ago, we knew what to expect, but it still amazes us, now that we have it in our hands and can pretty much do what we want with it. We’re already big fans of the Republic of Gamers brand, and rely heavily on using the Crosshair V and Maximus IV Extreme-Z boards in our everyday tests and we can’t wait to show you what this board can potentially do and to get to grips with it ourselves.

We touched lightly on the new features that have been fitted onto this board, and when the NDA lifts, we’ll be more than happy to explain things a lot further and to show you exactly how they work and what impact they have on your system, especially when overclocking.

In typical ROG fashion, we can expect this board to be on the higher end of the price market, but from what you’ve seen already, you certainly do get a lot of board for your money, and enthusiasts and overclockers will pay those prices, and will appreciate it too, and that’s exactly who this board is aimed at.

In terms of what else is to be on offer, the only other board that is really going to excite people, we feel, is the SR3 from EVGA, but that’s a whole different kettle of fish, though as you know, in terms of performance, we’re bound by the NDA that permits us from commenting, but if we can base it on how the other, previous generation ROG boards perform, we certainly are expecting great results to be had from the Rampage IV Extreme X79 motherboard, especially when we look at the overclocking options, and the OC Key, which is looking to be a fantastic accessory that can assist in providing exactly what we want, and that is rock hard stability and fantastic performance, all rolled into one.

Only time will tell if this is the case, but for now, I’m off to test this bad boy, so stay tuned when we will have all of the results, ready for you when the NDA lifts.
