The Maximus XI Formula is a little more premium than the Maximus XI Hero, and without much surprise, it performs a little better too. It scored our third highest 3DMark score of 23919, which is way ahead of our lowest Z390 score of 23185. The Unigine score wasn’t great, but it’s well within the region of where it should be, and keep in mind this is a GPU bound task more than anything. The PCMark 10 score was excellent, hitting 5830, our second highest for Z390, with the fastest going to the ASUS WS PRO Z390.
The WPrime score was pretty decent too, not the fastest for Z390, but not the slowest either. It’s obviously very competitive through at stock clocks, and very close to the ASUS WS Pro performance. The Formula put out our second highest score in CineBench (for Z390), again just being beaten out by that pesky ASUS WS Pro motherboard by two points! However, 218 single core is phenomenal, as is 2071 for all cores. This is reflected in Handbrake too, where ASUS dominated yet again with 75.1 FPS while transcoding 4K video.
