Just like all the other Z390 motherboards we’ve tested for this launch, the Hero had no issues hitting the 5 GHz target on the i9-9900K. We’re confident the chip can do a little more, but high temperatures mean that even our Noctua NH-D15S taps out at 5 GHz for the CPU. Get it under water if you want to go further folks. That being said, the motherboard was rock solid throughout all of our testing.
The end result of the overclocking? Pretty positive, as the board moved from 4th place in 3DMark at stock, to 3rd place while overclocked. It posted a score of 24490, with only the Extreme4 and Maximus XI Formula scoring higher. This overclock also saw four seconds shaved off the already fast WPrime 12024M time. Cinebench did fantastic too, scoring 2207, the highest score so far for any Z390 motherboard, and the second highest (by 1 point) single core performance also.
