ASUS ROG Networking Upgrade Guide

ASUS ZenWiFi Pro XT12

Who’s it For?

Mesh WiFi is a powerful tool for those operating over larger spaces, or in my case, homes with thick WiFi-hating walls that require a much stronger and more dynamic signal. The ASUS ZenWiFi Pro XT12 is certainly a solution to that problem. A single unit is good for around 3000 sq ft of coverage, for 4+ rooms, while adding a second will push that to 6000 sq ft and 6+ rooms. If you have a decent-sized house, larger garden and a garage, putting on of these in opposing corners of the building should ensure you have no signal woes throughout your property.

It’s no slouch though, offering the latest WiFi 6 4×4 160 MHz technology, so those with gigabit+ internet speeds and compatible devices, such as the latest smartphones, laptops, etc, will be able to take full advantage of that, even on WiFi. Plus, with dual 2.5G LAN and WAN ports, as well as link aggregation on the other two LAN ports.

If you need ultra-fast LAN and WiFi over a large area with multiple users and multiple fallback solutions to ensure stability, this is for you, but for the average consumer, it’s likely overkill and it is pretty expensive. But hey, you get what you pay for!

What ASUS Had to Say

“WiFi 6 gives ZenWiFi Pro XT12 up to 4X the capacity and 2X the speed of WiFi 5, thanks to advanced technologies like BSS Color, uplink and downlink OFDMA, and 160 MHz MU-MIMO. Network efficiency is improved too, so your devices get all the bandwidth they need. If you have lots of different networked devices, such as PCs, laptops, smartphones, NAS and smart home devices, ZenWiFi Pro XT12 is your ideal choice.”
