ASUS ROG Spatha Wireless/Wired Gaming Mouse Review

Cramming this many features into a mouse is obviously going to result in a hefty price tag, and you’ll find the ASUS ROG Spatha clocking in at a wallet-busting $179.99. This is a lot of money, but when you compare it to the Razer Mamba Chroma, which costs the same, the ROG has more programmable buttons (12 vs 9), built-in memory with five profiles whereas the Razer does not, better build quality with the magnesium alloy chassis, swappable switches, extra cables and more, which goes a very long way to justifying the price tag.
In short, this mouse is absolutely insane, but most certainly in a good way. There is a crazy amount of features and functions on offer here, and that means that going from your day-to-day social media browsing, your work in the office, video/picture editing in Photoshop, or competitive gaming and beyond, you’re going to have all the solutions to your problems built right into the Spatha.
The large design of the mouse is very forgiving for extended use, providing a comfortable full-palm rest that allows you to really take the strain off your wrist and your fingers. Of course, a big mouse isn’t for everyone, but despite its weighty design and large size, the Spatha still glides effortlessly and feels far more nimble than we expected. The durable rubber grips on the side provide you with the perfect spot to use a claw grip play style too, giving you lots of control for fast paced gaming and FPS titles.
The button response is perfect, with fast and light switches that give a good tactile click. Being able to swap out the stock switches for some slightly heavier, and “clickier” switches is great too, as they give a more defined feedback that works great for games like LoL and DOTA2.
Performance felt just as robust in wireless mode as it did wired and that means you’ve really got the freedom to choose which you prefer. While I do like a wired mouse, the easy to use charging dock is just too convenient to ignore and provides a stunning way to display your mouse on your desktop between uses.
The RGB lighting is vivid but placed on the mouse rather tastefully so that it’s not too in your face while gaming and with multiple profiles built-in to the mouse, the RGB settings make it very easy to highlight which profile is currently selected at a glance.
Overall, this may be one of the coolest mice we’ve ever tested. It’s packed full of features, offers exceptional comfort for those long gaming sessions and the build quality is as good as it gets. Highly recommended for anyone who spends an extreme amount of time at their desktop working and gaming day and night.
- Unique aesthetics

- Excellent sensor performance
- Comprehensive and easy to use desktop software
- While I like the weight of the mouse, it would be interesting to see ASUS make it a little lighter
- It’s very expensive, but it’s certainly comparable with flagship mice from the likes of Razer, Logitech and more.
