ASUS RoG STRIX Helios Case Review

Interior

One of the cooler features of the Helios is the quick release side panels. No nasty screws to deal with here. Just push in this large button on the left or right side panel, and it’ll pop open.

When it pops open, it’ll just hang out a bit like this. You then simply lift it out vertically and pop it to one side. Quick, clean and easy access.

Of course, this is a big chassis, so the interior is unsurprisingly spacious. There’s a nice array of routing holes dotted around the PSU shroud, and around the motherboard too, so cable management should be a breeze. Of course, with all that glass, good cable routing is important, so I’m happy to see they’ve made an effort in that regard.

PSU Shroud

I love a good PSU shroud, and this one is pretty fantastic. It features a side window for showing off the PSU, as well as some added ventilation should you mount it fan up. There’s a vertical cable grommet pass-through for the GPU too. Furthermore, the whole thing can split into two or be removed entirely. Handy, should you need more room for pumps, reservoirs, radiators, etc.

Cooling

There are three 140mm fans pre-installed in the front panel, providing huge airflow right out of the box. That gives us four fans pre-installed in total. They’ve all been mounted on a removable bracket too, so they can be easily taken out for cleaning, replacing, etc.

There’s a large block with an ASUS logo on it that acts as a cable routing pass-through/cover.

While two metal rods extend from it with a pair of GPU support brackets to counter any dreaded GPU droop issues you may have.

In the Back

There’s that lovely exhaust fan in the back. All of the fans are ASUS branded too, and very high quality, with built-in anti-vibration pads, and all black fittings. A premium chassis deserves premium components, and we’re not being let down here.

The rear expansion slot covers, all of them are ventilated, reusable and metal. None of those nasty snap-off ones for us, hurrah!

And I almost missed this till the light caught it at the right angle. Some more funky ASUS branding on the side of the PSU shroud.

Behind the Motherboard

This looks pretty blank, and that’s no accident. It’s damn hard to see, but the left side has a dark tinted plastic door covering it, so you can hide all the cable gore even when looking through the side panel window.
