At stock values, the motherboard consumes a hefty 424 watts under load and isn’t the most efficient X99 product we’ve tested. On the other hand, it’s unlikely to make a huge impact on your yearly bills and I doubt this is a consideration when opting for a power hungry processor.

Overclocking the CPU results in a fairly high idle power usage and load figure of 539 watts. Once again, this is a significant increase compared to other options on the market.
