ASUS Z170 Maximus VIII Hero (LGA 1151) Review

CPU & GPU Performance

Cinebench

One of the highest single core performance scores to date, although it slightly lacks during the multicore testing compared to ASRock and MSI options.

WPrime

Pulling a small lead here over the competition and an even greater lead once overclocked.

SiSoft Sandra

Similar scoring here again, just lagging behind the ASRock and MSI options.

3DMark

Some strange GPU performance scores across the entire Z170 range which could be due to immature motherboard drivers and BIOS versions.

Tomb Raider

The difference here is negligible and barely identifiable in real world usage. There is a slight drop at 1440p, but it’s well within a reasonable limit.

Bioshock Infinite

Knock for knock with the performance here; it just goes to show how little there is between the PCIe bandwidth of each board.
