Battlefield 3 on Ultra settings…

Not so long ago, the system requirements for Battlefield 3 were released (see here), yet the recommended were only for Medium in-games settings, and recently we’ve been told a little bit more about the Ultra settings requirements.

Unfortunately we haven’t been given the specs in details, but we don’t really need them as Dice’s Global Battlefield Community Manager, Matros, through twitter, announced that an “ultra fast PC” is needed to play on ultra settings.

Matros was asked if a single GTX580 would do the trick, something we would consider for a good rig these days, the answer being that a single GTX580 would get you through the medium settings only… as for the ultra settings, you’d need at least two in SLI configuration.

While Crysis has had the reputation to be the most demanding game ever released, would Battlefield 3 be the one to take the crown?

The news are wrong. Johann Andersson (repi) already said that GTX 580 SLI is a joke, and the CM should stop trolling.
Also, Recommended is for High Settings!
Please edit the post, else there will be a new wave of rumors going on.

    • I just write the news based on more than one source, so I can't state something like I want unless I have some kind of 'proof', in this case various sources.

Although from a logical point of view, it would make sense. I mean the most anticipated game of the year with such incredible graphics that it would require a GTX580 2-way SLI configuration may be rather intense, yet you wouldn't mind having graphics of such, would you?

It now being post release, I can say I'm running an i7 2.6, GTX260, and 6GB DDR3 with all settings on Medium, except Textures on High, Shadows on Low, Motion Blur Off, and Anisotropic on 4x and getting 30-40fps in Multiplayer. Not great but I'm getting by just fine. I actually ran the opener in Singleplayer all on Ultra and was steady, until I hit an open environment, then it dropped to a crawl.

Dunno what it would take run reasonably on Ultra but the Pre-release info seems extreme. Just a little FYI after the fact.
