be quiet! Pure Rock LP CPU Cooler Review

There is an expression that good things come in small packages and when the be quiet! Pure Rock LP landed on my desk for review, small was certainly one of the first impressions it gave me. – Primarily designed for use within compact systems where space can be at a premium, the be quiet! Pure Rock LP (low-profile) CPU cooler certainly seems to easily fit that remit with it standing just 45mm tall and only 92mm across.

Being a be quiet! product, however, despite its small stature the Pure Rock LP still comes packed with masses of excellent features that shouldn’t just make this an ideal choice for MITX system designers, but also for many standard PC designs too!

Although size is the primary factor in the design of the Pure Rock LP, it still carries all of the key features users would expect from a be quiet! product. Namely, excellent cooling performance with low acoustic output. – Being such a small CPU cooler, however, it will be interesting to see how this translates into actually handling temperatures while keeping noise levels as minimal as possible. In terms of radiator size (and even fan potential), on the surface, this doesn’t have much real estate to work within.

Admittedly, one key factor of the Pure Rock LP is undoubtedly the fact that it is only officially rated for processors with a maximum TDP of 100W. So, in other words, the realistic application for this is more in the remits of entry to mid-tier (modern) CPUs. Put simply, if you have an Intel i9-13900K, I wouldn’t be looking at this as my cooling solution. Nor, indeed, if you’re planning for any kind of notable levels of overclocking. – Think more along the lines of stock performance AMD Ryzen 5 or Intel Core i5.

For those CPUs which do fall into that 100W remit, however, if you’re looking for a potent and compact cooling solution, then the be quiet! Pure Rock LP could undoubtedly represent an excellent choice!
