be quiet Silent Wings Pro 4 Fan Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The Be Quiet! Silent Wings Pro 4 are available now in either black or white, with the 120mm starting at £27.98 and the 140mm at £29.99 per fan. Of course, if you’re doing your whole computer with these, that’s going to get pretty expensive pretty quickly, but that’s the price you pay for some of the best fans on the market and is in line with the flagship fan prices from the likes of Noctua, Thermaltake, and plenty of others.

Overview

be quiet! pride themselves on having some of the coolest and quietest products on the market, and based on my experience with their latest flagship fans, that is clearly still true. These are some incredibly quiet fans, even more so when you consider how high their maximum RPM is! Quiet fan companies often take a cheeky approach by simply using slower-speed fans, thus giving you less noise at the cost of overall cooling performance.

With the be quiet! Silent Wings Pro 4 fans, you still get the low-RPM goodies you expect from quiet fans. However, with their high-speed and ultra-high-speed fan modes, you can really push some truly massive airflow. Sure, they’re noisier in these modes, but compared to other fans on the market of a similar speed, they’re comparatively quiet.

Of course, using PWM connectors, just because you enable the Ultra High Speed mode, they won’t always spin at that speed, and you’ll still need to set your fan curves on your motherboard or controller software, however, you choose to do it, this is an important step. This will ensure you can get the whisper-quiet performance benefits when you’re working or watching YouTube instead of actually working, but when it comes to gaming on a hot day, the fans have plenty of boost to ensure your performance is maintained.

The build quality is also exceptional, and while the fans are quite expensive, the overall quality of the product really speaks to why they cost what they do. The fact that they’re somewhat modular is pretty cool too, I’ve never seen swappable corners like this, and while it may not seem like a big difference, any performance gains are certainly welcome when using them as case fans or on a cooler.

Should I Buy Them?

Admittedly, the price is going to put off a lot of people, and that’s fair enough, but keep in mind be quiet! make many other fans that are not as expensive, but still rather excellent. However, if you want the best, expect to pay a premium, but you do get a lot for your money here, with a great design, class-leading build quality, incredible airflow and acoustic performance, and really, I cannot fault these fans in any single way, they’re exceptionally good!

  1. Recent fans, but how many CFMs ?

    Apart from the interchengeable wedges…
For half the price you can get these ones which give off 122 cfm for 1800 rpm for only 29 db and they are durable too.

It’s just marketing to make people believe in recent progress. I’m talking about efficiency, because a fan has to cool properly while making little noise, and not just be quieter at low rpm like water cooling, which is barely better than air cooling, and whose fans often have to be changed and are of poor quality, in short…
