BeamNG Update V0.30 Introduces The New Aurata UTV And Improves West Coast Map

Today BeamNG released their V0.30 update for their soft-body physics vehicle simulator bringing in a new vehicle, new trailers, map expansions and new and improved missions.

New Hirochi Aurata

The Hirochi Aurata is a two-seater UTV built for entry-level racing a recreation and looks very similar to the Polaris RZR to which it likely draws its inspiration. It uses a 3-cylinder engine and offers factory and aftermarket turbocharged variants, as well as a continuously variable transmission with selectable FWD and low-range box. Additionally, the Aurata is available in both offroad and track-ready variants.

New Trailers

The new update has introduced two new trailers named the Tilt Deck and the Enclosed Cargo Trailer. The Tilt Deck features a hydraulic-activated deck that offers versatility with three length variations, several suspension configurations and two tongue options. The Enclosed Cargo Trailer comes with a secure fold-down ramp and an additional side door with a range of pre-configured loads and customization flexibility.

West Coast Expansion

The West Coast map has been improved and expanded upon with the most notable change being Spearleaf Island which is on the other side of the bridge and previously sat unused. This island features a lighthouse and a port offering various large spaces for drifting and other activities. The Island also features a new location named The Refinery which will be the starting point for some of the new missions and offers a great place for stunt driving. On the mainland, there is a new Steel Factory as well as a dealership.

Mission Improvements

Several new missions have been added to the game including Downtown Rush and SuperHighway sweep on the reworked West Coast USA. There is also Mudslide Gladiator on Jungle Rock Island and Small Island Sprint and Downhill Sweep on Small Island USA. Additionally, the Time Trials from the main menu are now classified as missions and have been improved, plus some new recovery options including flipping your vehicle or recovering back to work have been implemented into some missions.

Manual Transmission Rework

The ‘Realistic Mode’ for manual transmissions has been heavily revamped and now takes into account how long the driver holds down the gear shift buttons to determine how quickly the user wants to shift gears. This allows for a much broader range of realistic transmissions and lays the groundwork for future improvements. This change also allows for more accurate city driving as opposed to racing as it is not realistic to be shifting your average car as fast as you would shift a race car. More detailed information is available in the change logs.

Experimental VR Features

With this update, an early experimental version of VR support has been introduced for those looking for some more immersion. This current version includes the ability to toggle VR on or off at any point, the ability to choose snap-turn or smooth-turn in-cockpit camera as well as walking mode, and interactive 3D cockpit switches, door handles etc. (experimental- requires a VR controller).
