Biostar RX 580 Dual-Cooling Graphics Card Released
Ron Perillo / 7 months ago
Biostar announced their Radeon 500-series card line two weeks ago, but it was curiously missing some options. Biostar chose to skip the RX 560 for now. Also, both the RX 570 and RX 550 received custom-cooler options while the RX 580 did not. Although there is still no sign of the RX 560 on their product line, they are finally introducing a new dual-fan version of the RX 580 called RX 580 Dual-Cooling.
Custom Cooling System
The Biostar RX 580 Dual-Cooling has a pair of 90mm fans and has a custom shroud design. These fans run much more silently than the reference blower-style cooler. This is due to the fact that it does not need to spin at high-RPMs to be effective like the reference cooler. Underneath the shroud is a nickel-plated heatpipe heatsink and an aluminum block hybrid that makes the card slightly thicker than a dual-slot solution. Due to the large fans, the heatsink also overhangs beyond the PCB space.
Aside from the custom cooling solution, the Biostar RX580 Dual-Cooling has the same 1257/1340MHz clock speeds as the reference. The 8GB of GDDR5X also runs at 8000MHz effective clock on a 256-bit bus. At the back there is a DVI-D port, an HDMI port and three DisplayPorts.
