Borders – The Game where you Attempt to Illegally Enter America From Mexico

Borders is a game where you attempt to illegally cross the US/Mexico border without being caught. Sounds fun! The goal is simple, get to America without the border patrol catching you. While this might sound like a truly bizarre game, there is meaning behind it.

Whoever knew being an illegal immigrant could be so much fun!

Well, that is exactly the point. The game is meant to be fun, but also to show just how difficult and risky the most reputed border run can be. Created by Macua Studio, the concept of the game is to get to America while avoiding real life hazards. These include dehydration and the border patrol. The games creator, Gonzalo Alvarez, whose parents illegally entered America designed the game to highlight that if you find beating it difficult, imagine how much harder the reality is.

Speaking to the BBC at E3 Gonzalo Alvarez said: “My Dad crossed the border when he was 17. A lot of [his] stories are in the game. The border control, the helicopter that comes out later in the game.” In regards to some of the grim realities, he added: “My dad saw the skeleton of another human being on the way here.” The main point the creator wishes to make that if the ‘wall’ President Trump builds is indeed built, it does not address the root of the problem itself.

Has the game been release and if so, where can I get Borders!

It’s quite a unique idea and refreshing that the creator can actually relate directly to the subject. The game has been released at E3 and also at the Sheffield Doc Fest with people appreciating both the game and the story behind it. So if you fancy seeing what jumping the border would be like, you might want to give this a go. The game is available for purchase on Apple, Android and Windows.

You can find a trailer below, however here is a link to the official website.
